Ryan A. Layton, Attorney
Ryan graduated from the Emory University School of Law in 2017 and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar that same year. He practiced trust and estate planning and administration with two highly-regarded North Carolina law firms before establishing The Law Office of Ryan A. Layton, PLLC in 2023.
Central to Ryan’s practice is the belief that everyone, regardless of age, marital status, or net worth, can benefit from having a well-crafted estate plan. His clients have come from a wide variety of backgrounds and sought his assistance with a range of estate planning concerns. In past engagements, he has assisted clients with estate and gift tax planning, the modification and decanting of irrevocable trusts, planning for beneficiaries with special needs, longterm care planning, planning for blended families, and more. In every client engagement, Ryan’s primary objective is to not merely solve problems, but to prevent them from arising in the first place.
Ryan enjoys being active in his community and is a member of several local organizations including the local bar association and chamber of commerce. He currently serves on the board of Hillsborough Young Professionals Engage and the Snow Approach Foundation, which seeks to improve access to information, services, and support for families and individuals living with dementia and other brain conditions. Ryan is also a frequent volunteer with the North Carolina Bar Foundation’s Wills for Heroes program and occasionally serves as a guardian ad litem for individuals involved in incompetency proceedings.
Prior to attending law school, Ryan received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) in 2011. Ryan is also a graduate of UNCSA’s high school program. Music continues to be a passion of his in his spare time. Ryan lives in Hillsborough, NC with his wife (Libby), son (Luke), and Boston terrier (Peanut).
